Cyclables for Stephanies!

Thanks to a fabulous birthday present from Rem and my Dad and his wife, I am now the proud but slightly intimidated owner of a lovely new bicycle. And when I say NEW, I really mean it this time. This is not a pre-owned heavy piece o'junk with highly questionable brakes. This is a shiny new Specialized Sirrus (for those of you in the know) with lots of gears, a lovely seat and light enough components that I can lift it over my head with one hand and carry it through our apartment. Wow.

I actually did ride it home from Revolution Cycle today, which was a bit of a challenge and convinced me to wait until the snow clears some more before attempting much distance. As the store is near Jasper Place, we went through the river valley to get home and I learned that my fairly skinny road tires don't like snow and ice. Coincidentally enough, neither do I.

Nontheless, I did make it home, and even managed to RIDE all the way up Emily Murphy hill. I honestly didn't think that was possible. Like I said, all these new gears are miraculous. Now I just need to figure them out.

SO yeah... I'm officially attempting to join the ranks of the bicycle people. Wish me luck.
